The Kelpie, or water kelpie, is a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland.
It is a Celtic legend; however, analogues exist in other cultures. It is usually described as a black horselike creature, able to adopt human form.
Kelpies have been portrayed in their various forms in art and literature, including the two 30-metre (98 ft) high steel sculptures in Falkirk, The Kelpies, completed in October 2013. The design used on these coasters is by artist J.P. Barr and was commissioned by our parent company, Geocache Land Ltd.
This coaster is hade from hand cut Welsh slate. We engrave each design to order on natural riven slate. Every slate is hand cleaved and so will be unique in appearance. Each coaster is 10cm in diameter and has green felt on the rear.
Available in singular pieces or sets of 2,4,6 or 8 and they come in a complementary gift box.
Please note: Slate is a natural product so appearance and size may differ slightly from piece to piece.
